You should see a fuel cap under the door. Unscrew the fuel cap and set it aside. It seems to be full each time, splash back and all. My 2007 Malibu got close to 400 miles on a tank, at least on long trips. I have yet to see how this one does cross country. 280 miles is disappointing, especially since it shuts off at every light.
